Jodell Sadler and Leslie Shumate - Live Webinar

This is an important step as it really is what keeps so many manuscripts from moving forward or it might exist in chapter two versus chapter 1.
Writers must grab their reader right way and alert them that this read, this writing, presents a unique experience. Excite them. Be playful and invite intrigue into the first chapter. Reveal just enough, but not too much. Allow your reader to enter a story rather than be told about a story. Jump on the page and engage.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
  • How we get a feel for character
  • How we get a sense of voice
  • If the tone and 'personality' of the story is coming through
  • If an editor gets the idea of where the story will go
  • How to bring your reader in and keep them there
  • If your opening is working: why and how
  • How to you entice readers right from the first breath of story
  • What is the conflict and how fast does it come
  • If you can reveal inner character and conflict in your opening
  • How important voice, character, setting, and tension/direction is to a story
