3 phases of permanent weight loss

The tricky part is that each phase requires a different focus and mindset. 

The three phases are: 
  1. Learn it (foundation)
  2. Master it (habits)
  3. Own it (the fun part)
Not only are these phases very different, but we've also been somewhat trained to forget about phases 2 and 3 because most weight loss "solutions" completely disregard them.
Instead of building a foundation, they come up with some "plan" which goes against our biology and instincts and thus is unsustainable. Sure, you can rely on willpower for a few weeks but you can't rely on willpower for long.
Think of your willpower as a limited resource (because it is!).
Using up your willpower on a "solution" that is not sustainable is a waste of time and energy.
It robs you of your chance to achieve your goals.
Instead, you'll want to use your willpower to build the foundation of a sustainable lifestyle where weight loss just happens naturally. That's exactly what you've discovered during the summit and Chef AJ always says:
