2017 Special Highlights The Year in Review The World Peace Prayer Society
January - 2017
First International Peace Pole in Western India in Pichola lakeside in Udaipur, Rajasthan-INDIA

On January 14, 2017 (aka Makar Sankranti, the Hindu solstice) the first International Peace Pole in western India was dedicated by a vivid varied multi-generational crowd in the new eco-artistic sanctuary of Shaktipur on the Pichola lakeside in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
February - 2017
Peace Pals 2016 Winner donates Peace Pole Prize to School - USA

Avelyn Jing, 5 of the USA, won First Place in her age group in the 2016 Peace Pals International Art Exhibition and Awards. Avelyn portrayed the theme of "May Peace Prevail on Earth" and "Oneness with Diversity" by drawing children from various nationalities dancing together under a rainbow and peace dove, surrounding by flags in hearts.
March - 2017
WPPS & URI-Africa Sign an Agreement to Promote a Culture of Peace in Africa
 
March 28, 2017 - The World Peace Prayer Society (WPPS) and United Religions Initiative-Africa (URI-Africa) signed a partnership agreement to enhance the working partnership at the national, sub-regional and continental levels in Africa to promote a culture of peace.
April - 2017

April 8th - 12th - When a Peace Pole was presented to Mayor César Souza, Junior of Florianópolis, Brazil, during the World Peace Forum in September of 2016, a powerful chain of events were set in motion.
May - 2017

May 4th - The second International Exhibition of Drawings of Peace was inaugurated on May 4th at the headquarters of the grouping of schools of Leça do Balio (Porto/Portugal).  The participants were children and teens from more than 100 countries belonging to schools, groups members of the Living Peace International  and  organizations partners of the project.
June - 2017
Peace Pole and Flag Ceremony at the Fourth Global Forum

June 14 - 16  - Conscious business leaders from 32 countries traveled to Cleveland, Ohio to attend the Fourth Global Forum hosted by the Fowler Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit. The three day Forum was held June 14th through 16th on the campus of Case Western Reserve University.
July - 2017
Celebration of the 82nd Birthday of the Dalai Lama - NYC - USA

On July 6th, 2017, a Birthday Celebration was held in NYC in honor His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The theme was "World Peace through Compassion." The event was organized by the The Tibet Fund in New York City.
August - 2017
Rotarians Plant Peace Pole in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

San Miguel de Allende is often referred to as the Heart of Mexico.  It is an old colonial town with a 600 year old history.  As a UNESCO World Heritage City, San Miguel de Allende is proud of it's history, cobblestone lanes and traditional architecture.
September - 2017
United Nations International Day of Peace Celebration in Nigeria

The 2017 world peace day on the theme "TOGETHER FOR PEACE, RESPECT, SAFETY & DIGNITY FOR ALL " observance in Nigeria was great as it drew participants from all race to meet together to share a common ideology for peace as enshrined in the universal prayer for world peace "May Peace Prevail on Earth."
October - 2017
Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony in conjunction with the Tree Planting Project-Winnipeg, Manitoba-CANADA

Peace Pole Dedication on Sunday October 1st, 2017 at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  We had the dedication at two times on Sunday following each of our Masses.  In total, about 200+ people were in attendance for the dedication.
November - 2017
Peace Pals International 20th Anniversary Celebration, Geneva, Switzerland

It was an event to be remembered with International Partners #NatureForAll and DiversEarth celebrating with IUCN council members from over 30 countries and special guests from Geneva and abroad
December - 2017

WPPS took part in the One World Bearing Witness 24 vigil for humanity.  The online global/local, live, participatory, healing ritual for humanity hosted programs bearing witness to a diverse array of topics including climate change, equality, reconciliation and other timely themes highlighting our unity in diversity.
